DESCRIPTION

The Emdom/MM Dragster Strap is a design collaboration between Emdom USA and MM from www.militarymorons.com. The Dragster Strap is designed as an ultra-compact emergency drag/utility strap system that is worn on a rigger’s belt, war belt, or armor carrier. Its primary purpose is to provide a readily available drag strap to be used by one or two people to assist in dragging a wounded or immobile person who is in immediate danger, a short distance to safety or cover. Outside its intended design the Dragster Strap can be used as a general purpose strap, utilized for hauling/securing a load, assisting a person to ascend/descend a wall/obstacle, etc. Its lightweight and compact design allow it to be carried by anyone and deployed instantly when needed. The system is designed to be used with one carabiner/snap link attached to the loop at each end of the strap. When deployed, one end is attached to the user’s rigger belt and the other end is attached to the person being dragged. Please see below for detailed instructions on the proper application of the Dragster Strap.

WARNING: The Dragster Strap is not intended for extended/daily use in place of a proper restraint/safety harness or strap, as climbing/rappelling equipment, nor as a personal retention lanyard utilized on boats or aircraft. A sample of the Dragster Strap was sent to an independent consultant/contractor for testing. The strap was installed on a hydraulic testing machine and pulled apart to failure. The webbing failed with a static load of 1,995 lbs, while the threads/stitching remained intact. Note that this is a static load: meaning that the webbing supported a static, non-moving weight of that much before failure. It is not a dynamic load (a weight falling from a height, then being stopped by the webbing). The Dragster Strap has a multitude of uses as long as its limitations are recognized.

Emdom/MM Dragster Strap overview

KEY FEATURES & DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

System set-up:
In no particular order, this is the recommended set-up of the Dragster Strap so as to be ready for immediate use.

  • Two carabiners/snap links are attached, one attached to each loop at the ends of the strap.
  • Included ITW Web Dominator is installed on either strip of webbing on the sides of the pouch. This is utilized to store the external carabiner/snap link when not attached to a riggers belt.
  • Fold the strap over itself multiple times when stowed so it can be immediately deployed without having to unroll.
  • The folded strap with carabiner/snap link attached to one end is stored in the pouch.
  • The other end of the strap with attached carabiner/snap link is either left connected to the V-ring or D-ring on a riggers belt or stored on the side of the pouch with the included ITW Web Dominator.
  • Pouch can be mounted to riggers belt, war belt, armor carrier, etc. either vertically or horizontally.

Usage:
These are the recommend steps to utilize the Dragster Strap as it was designed. These steps are with the system set-up as outlined above with the exterior carabiner/snap link attached to a riggers belt. If the exterior carabiner/snap link is stowed on the side of the pouch; the first step would be to attach that carabiner/snap link to the riggers belt, then the following steps would apply.

  1. Grab pull tab on cover flap and open pouch.
  2. Pull out internal carabiner/snap link which will automatically extend the strap.
  3. The carabiner/snap link in hand is then attached to the drag handle on the person to be dragged.
  4. User can now drag the immobile person while having both hands free.

Tips:
General guidelines discovered during testing.

  • If the entire length of the strap is not desired, the strap can be looped through the drag handle on the person being dragged and attached back at the riggers belt V-ring/D-ring or carabiner/snap link; thus shortening the strap by half.
  • Using the strap in the manner mentioned above, facilitates easier dragging of an immobile person because you’re pulling up when closer to the person as opposed to dragging them horizontally.

Mounting:
MOLLE/PALS compatible and can be mounted vertically on webbing or belts up to 2.75” wide via one included short MALICE clip. Horizontally mountable to a MOLLE/PALS platform, belt, or webbing up to 2" wide via set of sewn-in Velcro straps.

Pouch:
Designed to carry the entire strap plus one attached carabiner/snap link. Cover flap features bartack strengthened pull tab for rapid access even with gloved hands. A short length of webbing on each side of the pouch allows the included ITW Web Dominator to be mounted. The ITW Web Dominator is used to stow the external carabiner/snap link when not attached to a riggers belt.

Strap:
6’ long, 1" wide webbing with 2" sewn loops at each end. 5.5" of webbing is doubled over to form the loops. The ends are secured and reinforced with six bartacks and four box stitches. An ITW metal rounded oval slide at each end supplements the stitches as an added back up.

Stocked in various standard colors. Also available in various custom colors. Please email us at [email protected] for any inquiries.

4 of 5 Dragster. February 21, 2021
Reviewer: Christopher Wilson from Conway, AR United States
Small ready drag strap and pouch. Well built with a small footprint. One complaint is that the strap only has loops on each end so it makes a slip knot loop. Still good but I replaced it with a multi loop strap. Dragster is now used by teammate on his kit. Great product for the price.
